2. What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our active systems:

| Profile Data | Bio, avatar image, banner image, customization settings - permanently deleted |
| Shouhts (Posts) | All your Shouhts and replies - permanently deleted |
| Live streams and replays | Access to live streams and saved replays you hosted is disabled when the related Shouht or your account is deleted. Replay videos, posters, and unfinished recording parts are queued for permanent deletion from active systems. Copies may remain in backups for up to 30 days as described below. |
| Media Files | Uploaded images and videos, saved live stream replay videos and posters, and unfinished live recording parts are removed from active systems, subject to the backup and legal-retention exceptions below. |
| Messages | Your direct messages are deleted; the other party may retain their copy |
| Follows & Followers | All follow relationships involving your account - removed |
| Gamification Progress | XP, level, achievements, streaks, Rizz balance - permanently deleted |
| Votes | All upvotes and downvotes you made - removed |
| Push Tokens | Device tokens for notifications - permanently deleted |
| Location Data | Your location history and last known location - permanently deleted |
3. What Gets Retained
Some data may be retained for limited periods for legitimate purposes:
| Data Type | Retention Period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Backup Copies | Up to 30 days | System backups can contain data deleted from active systems until the backups are rotated. Deleted content is not available through the Service during this period. |
| Transaction Records | Up to 7 years | Required for financial/tax compliance (Stripe transactions only) |
| Moderation Actions | Up to 2 years | To prevent abuse and enforce repeat offender policies |
| Anonymized Analytics | Indefinitely | Aggregate statistics with no personally identifiable information |
| Legal Holds | As required | If your data is subject to legal preservation requirements |
After the retention period, this data is permanently deleted or anonymized.
4. Channel Ownership
If you are the creator of one or more channels, here's what happens when you delete your account:
- Channels with other members: Ownership automatically transfers to the longest-tenured admin or moderator. If none exist, ownership transfers to the oldest member.
- Channels where you are the only member: The channel is permanently deleted along with all its content.
We recommend transferring channel ownership manually before deleting your account if you want to designate a specific successor.
5. Premium Subscription
If you have an active Premium subscription:
- Your subscription will be cancelled immediately
- You will not receive a refund for unused subscription time
- Any pending charges may still be processed
- Stripe retains payment records as required by law
We recommend cancelling your subscription through your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) before deleting your account to avoid future charges.
6. Export Your Data First
Before deleting your account, you may want to request a copy of your data. To request a data export:
- Email: [email protected]
- Subject: Data Export Request
- Timeframe: We will provide your data within 45 days (as required by CCPA for California residents)
Your export includes your profile information, Shouhts, messages, custom emojis, live stream and replay metadata, and other personal data in a machine-readable format. Retained replay videos and posters may be omitted from the downloadable archive because archive size limits apply. Contact [email protected] about access to an available replay before deleting your account.
7. Deletion Is Permanent
Warning: Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted:
- Your username may become available for others to claim
- Your content cannot be recovered
- Your gamification progress (XP, level, achievements, Rizz) cannot be restored
- If you want to use Shouht again, you will need to create a new account
8. Third-Party Data
Deleting your Shouht account does not delete data held by third-party services you connected:
- Google: If you used Google OAuth, manage your connected apps at myaccount.google.com
- Stripe: Payment records are retained by Stripe according to their privacy policy
- App Stores: Apple and Google retain their own records of subscriptions and purchases
9. Questions?
If you have questions about data deletion or need assistance:
- Email: [email protected]
- Response Time: We typically respond within 2-3 business days
For California residents, please see our California Privacy Notice for additional rights.
